Having worked as a doula in Kelowna since June 2010, Amanda Martin brings a caring yet professional approach to doula care. Her desire to share her knowledge and experience in supporting families during the childbearing year means Amanda is the doula for anyone looking for a positive experience.
Eager to continue helping families after the births of their boys, Amanda started her training in February 2010 with Birth Doula training, followed in September of 2012 with completion of certification through DONA. Amanda continued her education with postpartum doula training in February 2014, and is currently working toward certification. Amanda also provides many hours of volunteer time supporting the Kelowna Doula Association which supports all doulas in the Kelowna area by raising public awareness of doulas and the benefits of doula support, as well as provide peer-to-peer support.
Some of Amanda’s favourite moments as a doula have been seeing some of her written articles published in a local magazine and being interviewed for a local TV show. She has written many articles, one was for the Pregnant and Fabulous and Beyond magazine released Spring 2013, and another for the Bumps and Beyond magazine released Spring 2014. She has also been asked to appear on a local TV talk show, Doug and Lisa.
Amanda lives in Kelowna, BC, with her husband, their two young boys and their pet Gerbil, Creeper (she didn’t name it!).
